Front and back covers of Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design’s Summer School 2004 brochure, one of a series of documents regularly produced using our automated publishing system. The 200-page brochure is compiled in seconds, with extremely high levels of design detailing (see also 5·4), and shares up-to-date courses information with the College website by virtue of a common database (see 4·1 and 8·2). The online database also houses the College’s image library, which manages a wealth of visual material that can be utilised by online or printed items. The system shortens design and production cycles, eradicating the iterative process of manual amendments, and ensures consistency across media.
The brochure’s typography was recognised by D&AD in their annual awards; the system that produces it was shortlisted by the Heist Awards for innovative use of technology for marketing; and the overall communications programme was nominated for the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany.
